These finely selected array of brilliant musicians has me still in awe; slowly coming down from their deeply ventured spaced out session.

Director & Producer Eduardo Chan has produced an outstanding album, alongside pianist Nacho Molino. This album was set to break all standard Latin recordings by aiming to take the listener on some sort of a trip. Wow! Some trip let me say. The Nacho Molino Conjunto is out of Panama. There is not much info that I could source out, however I am close to getting in touch with the director I hope. I will update the info if and when it may come along. Stay tuned and enjoy for now my ears through letters on this album.

Se Me Queries Porque No Me Tumbais

The opening track titled 'Se Me Queries Porque No Me Tumbais' is hard, smooth and well bongolicious with a jazzaphone sprinkle. The track starts out with heavy bass and keys emphasis on 'HEAVY', followed by the rhythm section. Joel Medina (bongos) has fingertips of steel, as when strikes those bongos you feel as if you have to swallow saliva out of disbelief. The arrangement sweetens to a catchy jazzified melody by Vibraphonist' Laurencio Jaen. This track really starts to cook throughout the montuno sections and finds itself returning to the intro heavy bass and keys. A perfect taste of what is yet to come. I picture myself sitting a space shuttle counting down to launch.

The album has several sub-genres crossing styles to match their vision of where they wanted to take you. I enjoy listening to the album from start to finish, always feeling where as if I have astro travelled outside of my body.

Hot Nacho

For me there are several stronger cuts you could say that are great for dancing. The descarga, which is the first track on side 2 titled ' Hot Nacho', introduces the band, where I believe 'Eduardo Chan's voice funks it up as the cheeky M.C. There is a great display of soloing and musicianships rawness that at each time you listen to the track, you'll find yourself picking up something you had missed.

Norwegian Wood

There are several covers on this album, which 2 of them are outstanding covers from John Lennon & Paul McCartney titled ' Norwegian Wood' & Michelle.

M.A.S.H

The version of M.A.S.H. (J. Mandel - M. Altman) starts out with what I always thought was a cheesy riff. I do however enjoy hearing the progression swaying more towards a harder and funkier approach. This cover has now grown on me and well is a fun track to drop to watch the heads spin. Of course timing is crucial.

Spring Time

Michelle

I am not sure exactly how it is, however there seems to be a relative of Mr. Nacho credited as 'Angelina Molino' who is a vocalist and used for several voice effects, also accompanied by Erika Rassow. You can here them quite clearly on the tracks titled 'Springtime' and the cha cha version of ' Michelle'.

This album is really a true gem and I am very happy to have this in my collection today. I would like to say a huge thanks to my friend Nikolas who first introduced me to Nacho's track 'Se Me Queries Porque No Me Tumbais'. I was hooked ever since. I also would like to thank my friend Robert who is also the man behind the fantastic Panama compilations featuring an educating, unique variety of hand picked gold. Please buy these albums and experience Panamanian music for what it has to offer. Look out for VOL 4. Check the link below to buy a copy today and jump on the Pan-Air shuttle to Mars.

To Panama and beyond the stars!
